Interpretation and Definitions

Interpretation

The words of which the initial letter is capitalized have meanings defined under the following conditions. The following definitions shall have the same meaning regardless of whether they appear in singular or in plural.

Definitions

For the purposes of this Privacy Policy:

Collecting and Using Your Personal Data

Types of Data Collected

Personal Data

While using Our Service, We may ask You to provide Us with certain personally identifiable information that can be used to contact or identify You. Personally identifiable information may include, but is not limited to:

Usage Data

Usage Data is collected automatically when using the Service.

Usage Data may include information such as Your Device's Internet Protocol address (e.g. IP address), browser type, browser version, the pages of our Service that You visit, the time and date of Your visit, the time spent on those pages, unique device identifiers and other diagnostic data.

When You access the Service by or through a mobile device, We may collect certain information automatically, including, but not limited to, the type of mobile device You use, Your mobile device unique ID, the IP address of Your mobile device, Your mobile operating system, the type of mobile Internet browser You use, unique device identifiers and other diagnostic data.

We may also collect information that Your browser sends whenever You visit our Service or when You access the Service by or through a mobile device.

On this website We collect anonymous, cookieless usage statistics through PostHog, hosted in the European Union. No cookies or other identifiers are stored on Your device and page addresses are recorded without any room, voucher or share code in them.

In the Salsool app — in Your browser and in the mobile apps — the same analytics are not anonymous: once You are signed in, the named events We record are associated with Your account identifier, and the app stores that identifier on Your device so the events line up across a session. We record named events only, such as a room being created or a round finishing; there is no autocapture, no session recording and no screen recording. PostHog also derives an approximate location from the network address the events are sent from, which on the phone and in the browser is Yours. We do not use any of it for advertising and it is never combined with data from other companies for that purpose.

If You arrive through one of Our campaign links, such as a link in one of Our videos, the website keeps a short label naming that link for the length of the visit and passes it to the app when You open it. The app records the label with Your account identifier, so We can count which of Our posts lead to games. The label names Our link, never You. No advertising company's code runs on this website or in the mobile apps; the one exception, in the Salsool web app, is described next.

Advertising measurement in the Salsool web app (Middle East and North Africa only)

When You play in the Salsool web app (play.salsool.com) in the Middle East and North Africa region, We use the Meta Pixel and Meta's Conversions API to learn which of Our Instagram and Facebook ads lead to people playing, so those ads are shown to people likely to play. Three things are reported to Meta, and nothing else: that a player started their first game, that they finished their first game, and that a purchase was made in the web app, with its list price. With each report Meta receives Your device's network address and browser type, Meta's own browser identifiers (the _fbp and _fbc cookies the Meta Pixel keeps on play.salsool.com), and a one-way hash of Your Salsool account identifier. Never Your name, Your email address, a room code or anything You type. Meta Platforms Ireland Limited receives this as an independent controller under its own Privacy Policy. We do not use the Meta Pixel or the Conversions API on salsool.com, in the mobile apps, or for players in the EU region.

When the app first opens, We look up the country of its IP address in a copy of the IPinfo Lite database kept on Our own servers, to choose the region it starts in. The address is not sent to IPinfo, and neither the address nor the country is stored; only the region is kept. IP address data powered by IPinfo.

Use of Your Personal Data

The Company may use Personal Data for the following purposes:

We may share Your personal information in the following situations:

Retention of Your Personal Data

The Company will retain Your Personal Data only for as long as is necessary for the purposes set out in this Privacy Policy. Your information, including Personal Data, is processed at the Company's operating offices and in any other places where the parties involved in the processing are located. It means that this information may be transferred to — and maintained on — computers located outside of Your state, province, country or other governmental jurisdiction where the data protection laws may differ than those from Your jurisdiction.

Your consent to this Privacy Policy followed by Your submission of such information represents Your agreement to that transfer.

The Company will take all steps reasonably necessary to ensure that Your data is treated securely and in accordance with this Privacy Policy and no transfer of Your Personal Data will take place to an organization or a country unless there are adequate controls in place including the security of Your data and other personal information.

Delete Your Personal Data

You have the right to delete or request that We assist in deleting the Personal Data that We have collected about You.

Our Service may give You the ability to delete certain information about You from within the Service.

You may update, amend, or delete Your information at any time by signing in to Your Account, if you have one, and visiting the account settings section that allows you to manage Your personal information. You may also contact Us to request access to, correct, or delete any personal information that You have provided to Us.

Please note, however, that We may need to retain certain information when we have a legal obligation or lawful basis to do so.

Disclosure of Your Personal Data

Business Transactions

If the Company is involved in a merger, acquisition or asset sale, Your Personal Data may be transferred. We will provide notice before Your Personal Data is transferred and becomes subject to a different Privacy Policy.

Law enforcement

Under certain circumstances, the Company may be required to disclose Your Personal Data if required to do so by law or in response to valid requests by public authorities (e.g. a court or a government agency).

Other legal requirements

The Company may disclose Your Personal Data in the good faith belief that such action is necessary to:

Security of Your Personal Data

The security of Your Personal Data is important to Us, but remember that no method of transmission over the Internet, or method of electronic storage is 100% secure. While We strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect Your Personal Data, We cannot guarantee its absolute security.

Children's Privacy

Salsool is a general-audience game. It is not directed to children under 13, We do not knowingly collect Personal Data from anyone under 13, and We ask nobody for an age or a date of birth. If You are a parent or guardian and You are aware that Your child has provided Us with Personal Data, please contact Us. We will close the account and end its access immediately, and We will not ask You to justify the request. If We become aware that We have collected Personal Data from anyone under the age of 13, We take steps to remove that information from Our servers.

If We need to rely on consent as a legal basis for processing Your information and Your country requires consent from a parent, We may require Your parent's consent before We collect and use such information.

Links to Other Websites

Our Service may contain links to other websites that are not operated by Us. If You click on a third party link, You will be directed to that third party's site. We strongly advise You to review the Privacy Policy of every site You visit.

We have no control over and assume no responsibility for the content, privacy policies or practices of any third party sites or services.

Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update Our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify You of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page.

We will let You know via email and/or a prominent notice on Our Service, prior to the change becoming effective and update the "Last updated" date at the top of this Privacy Policy.

Players in the European Union (GDPR)

This section applies if you play in the EU region or live in the European Economic Area. It sits alongside the rest of this policy and wins where the two differ.

Who is responsible

The data controller is Jum'a Alsafartee, trading as Salsool, a sole proprietor established in Jordan. Contact: support@salsool.com.

Minimum age

In the EU region you must be 16 or over to use Salsool.

What we hold and why

We do not sell your data, show advertising, or use any advertising or tracking SDK.

Who processes it for us

Paddle (web purchases, as merchant of record), Apple (App Store and Sign in with Apple) and Google (Google Play and Google sign-in) handle your data as independent controllers under their own privacy policies.

Transfers outside the EEA

Our servers and database are in Germany. Some providers above are based in the United States. Where your data reaches them, the transfer relies on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses or the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, as set out in that provider's data processing terms.

How long we keep it

We keep account and game data for as long as your account exists. Deleting your account signs you out of every device at once. 30 days later (a guest account within the hour) your name, email address, sign-in and contact details are removed: your display name becomes "Deleted player", and your email, phone number, Google or Apple link, sign-in and notification tokens, and anything you typed into a report are cleared. Your games, scores, Trail progress, purchases (kept for as long as the law requires), device and sign-in records, reports and bans stay, without your name. Database backups are kept for 30 days.

Your rights

You have the right to:

To use any of these rights, email support@salsool.com from the address linked to your account, or include your display name and how you sign in. We reply within one month.

You also have the right to complain to a data protection supervisory authority, in particular in the EU country where you live, work, or where you think the problem happened.
